The Smart Audio Report, Winter 2018

Conducted after the December 2018 holidays, the Winter 2018 report confirmed continued increases in U.S. smart speaker ownership. Among U.S. adults (18+), 53M people — 21% of the population — own at least one smart speaker. And, the total number of devices in homes  increased 78% year-over-year. With 52% of all smart speaker owners using their device daily, findings suggest that voice-activated technology is increasingly integrated into millions of people’s everyday lives.

The Spring 2018 release of The Smart Audio Report  for the first time offered a preview into the realities of mainstream use and revealed opportunities for brands across industries – from marketing and publishing to tech and services.

The Smart Audio Report, Spring/Summer 2017

The first Smart Audio Report provided the first major insights on the market into the behaviors and attitudes of Americans who have smart speaker devices in their homes – and the important role these devices play in users’ lives. The Spring/Summer Report found that 42% of users say their device is now “essential” to their everyday life and 65% wouldn’t go back to life without one.
